STEM Week 2026
During STEM Week, the children at Waverley Abbey were transported to new worlds as they took part in immersive sessions using virtual reality headsets. Every class had the opportunity to explore a range of fascinating topics brought to life in an exciting and memorable way.
Year 5 travelled across towering mountains and followed the journey of the water cycle, while Year 4 dived into the classification of animals. Year 6 stepped back in time to learn about Darwin and his discoveries, and Year 3 enjoyed hands-on virtual explorations of magnets and the magical world of Alice in Wonderland.
The children were captivated by the experience and thoroughly enjoyed learning in such an interactive way. Using VR headsets not only helped to consolidate existing knowledge, but also introduced new ideas and provided a unique learning experience that sparked curiosity, enthusiasm and a real sense of adventure.
